: Prismpoint™ System : frequently asked questions
Why do we need a DAM (Digital Asset Management) system like Prismpoint™ Portal? What's my ROI?
Centralization. No more bottlenecks - a single place where all your digital files are accessible wherever the internet is accessible, indexed, managed and ready for use by staff and partners around the globe. Save all the time and money it takes manually to search for (or even re-create) files from scratch.
Consistency. A centralized storehouse for your digital files helps your organization remain consistent in branding and messaging. Your creative team, marketing team, your partners - all are now enabled to share resources.
Unlimited Access. Close to 24/7/365 access to your resources, available world-wide.
Collaboration tools. With built-in rating, ranking, labeling and commenting features, a DAM enables collaboration across workgroups and locations that streamlines your workflow and saves time and money.
Security. Robust 256-bit SSL encryption, watermarking, precisely-defined permissions and access levels - a security infrastructure that protects your organization's digital files and grants access only to those who need it, when they need it.
Do I have to buy Prismpoint™ to use your services?
No. First, the Prismpoint™ System is not software for sale; it is the suite of tools Colorhythm uses, along with their clients, to execute our services as effectively and efficiently as possible. Our clients may or may not choose to install Prismpoint™ Desktop or Mobile, or to gain access to Prismpoint™ Portal; whatever they choose, they may still benefit from the efficiency Prismpoint™ creates in our services.
Can my company use Prismpoint™ Portal without being obliged to use your other services or applications?
Yes. We offer Prismpoint™ Portal as a hosted "software as a service" (SaaS) solution, and you may acquire access to a custom build for your organization without using our services or other technologies. We do not, however, offer the software as a standalone product; you must access it as a service hosted in our server farm.
Will Prismpoint™ work behind my company's firewall?
Prismpoint™ Portal is a standards compliant web application that is accessible anywhere a compatible web browser has access to the internet. Prismpoint™ Server, the backbone of both Desktop and Mobile, uses port number 5003; if your company's IT department decides it cannot open that port, we can easily install a seat of Prismpoint™ Server on-site within your company's network and work with your IT department to insure the installation follows their security protocals.
We're wary of using a hosted solution and giving up control of our assets; what assurances can you offer?
It's more than likely that the security measures and backup systems we have in place exceed what your organization can supply: backup UPS and diesel generator power systems; state-of-the-art climate control systems; FM200 gas suppression system plus pre-action dry pipe sprinkler system with clean agent fire extinguishers; security card access and DVR camera systems; round-the-clock security personnel; 24x7x365 network monitors; highly experienced application administrators and sysadmins on-staff.
Application security includes: hourly backups of all your assets locally to a RAID-5 array; XML redundancy of all metadata; nightly backups of all databases and off-site backup of your files; 256-bit encryption of all transfers (we only offer HTTPS); crypotographically scrambled file paths for all your files; site hardened against XSS attacks; IP lockout authorization built-in; expiration of shares and accounts; strong password requirements. And more.
Is my company too small to benefit from Prismpoint™?
Prismpoint™ Portal is a viable means for any sized organization to share its digital resources. Prismpoint™ Desktop is an effective tool to produce media for small product lines, and since it comes as a free adjunct to our services, there's no additional price to pay -- you get a Fortune 500 infrastructure at "Mom-and-Pop" prices. And Prismpoint™ Mobile is an add-on that provides handy access to product line data, no matter the size of the line.
What is Colorhythm's relationship to open source projects, such as ResourceSpace?
Colorhythm is a proud, major contributor to a number of open source projects, including ResourceSpace, and fervently supports the collaborative model of development and business that open source promotes. ResourceSpace itself contains a wide range of features contributed by Colorhythm, and we share in its copyright. We utilize, fund, and contribute to several other notable projects as well, such as ExifTool; yet the software we make available through our commercial offerings represent fully administered, supported and hosted solutions with additional features not available in the open source code.
